In this fast-paced world of information gathering, one can get overloaded with best practices for just about anything. When we try new diets or fads to improve our health or when instilling new techniques to sharpen our business practices we can sometimes feel overwhelmed with the rush of it all. We can feel like we aren’t good enough because we aren’t perfect despite the work we’ve done to improve. This is very common with high achievers and go-getters trying to find the source of success and happiness. Are we capable of perfection? Are we capable of creating perfect balance in every facet of our being? At the core of who we are is our genetics, our DNA. Does that mean our genetics dictate everything else? I’d like to think not! We are not our genetics, we are our epigenetics. Epigenetics is defined by dictionary.com as the study of the way in which the expression of heritable traits is modified by environmental influences or other mechanisms without a change to the DNA sequence. Learning and researching my family’s genetics has lead me further down the spiritual path of rewriting my story. Not the stories I had been told over the years or have been programmed in my psyche and cellular memory to believe. I’ve also come to realize our genetics can be our Achilles Heel. The eternal struggle we are trying to overcome. Constantly seeking answers to the same questions only to find we cannot receive the answer. We don’t want to change. We want an excuse to stay stuck in a comfortably uncomfortable situation. In studying the raw data of individuals genetics matched against their struggles and personalities, one could assume they can’t change. I’m here to say they can. You can! By changing what influences your genetics you can override the system and become the person you were designed to be. It really is about expression. If we raise our vibrational frequency by taking out toxic thoughts, foods, chemicals, heavy metals, and replace them with gratitude, positivity, wholesome and unprocessed foods and plant- based medicine, we change. We change on a cellular level! I’ve seen it in myself. I went from being a victim full of negativity and glass half empty mentality with unhealthy habits to being a transformational leader teaching others how to be strong and resilient. I am far from perfect and know I will never be, but I am seeking the wisdom from inside of me, given to me by my maker. You are what you say you are, so make it good! Changing my mindset came after taking out harmful toxins as mentioned above and filling my brain with positive input much like in the books I recommend. Think of it as a cellular reprogramming. Ask yourself what you are putting in your brain and on your body? Watching sensationalized media has a negative impact on you and your children. Being in judgement, jealousy, resentment, and comparison can keep you sick. Being around people with these qualities can keep you stuck in negativity. Filling your body with plastics and chemically-laden processed foods is literally causing us to mutate. You are what you eat and think! Make it good. As you are going through any change, whether it be due to an elimination diet or deciding on a career change or leaving an unhealthy relationship, you are transforming. You are recognizing the need to change even if it’s uncomfortable and messy. It’s called transformation. Don’t get stuck telling yourself fear-based lies that it didn’t work or that you can’t be that or do this because (insert excuse here). We are speaking fear and making excuses on why we can’t because we don’t want to change. Change feels like you are disrupting things. You are. You should. Being the change you wish to see in your world can be messy and fraught with indecision and confrontation, mostly with yourself. You are changing at your core level of being. You are changing back to the you God planned you to be. Not the mutated version that you had become. You are not your mutated genes; you are a product of your epigenetics. Take back your health and your right to be perfectly made by God, not by the world you are living in. Be strong, be resilient, be a thought leader and be the change! We all can make our world a better place when we recognize the unhealthy habits and flip the switch and demand more for ourselves and our children. Generations to come will thank us for pioneering the effort to make our world a better place. There is support for these times of change. My book “You Change, They Change” is accompanied with an online course to help you as you transform into the healthy, happy, balanced individual you were designed to be.
